..........MFP
New servers purchased to alleviate, but will be available for 2012-2013 school year.
Due to massive testing during the school year, hang-ups and etc. occur. Hopefully, with new server, it won't be a problem...as much.
..........Google Updates
Back-end working hard, trying to make the timeline. Needed to switch Monday's and Tuesday's assignments due to time.
..........flip flop Mon/Tues email
Monday is clean-up day, Tuesday is logging into the google account
People need to clean up and get ready as much as possible before we migrate on Friday, May 25 at 6PM
Another email will go out this afternoon to provide online training for Google - to avoid overload on bandwidth (which is pretty common occurrence around this time of year)
Negotiated with AT&T to upgrade circuits from 300MB to 600MB by August 2012. But like always, it will be fine at first, and then get overloaded, especially with Google usage (Lotus was internal)
Password has to be complex, at least 6 digit with capital and number
ITSs are the first line of defense next week with the Google migration process.
Moving over to Chrome (going to be a 2-browser district). There will be an icon on the desktop for everyone to log into the Google sites
Long-term subs: we are creating accounts for ALL subs, not just long-term subs. Keep in mind, not all RRISD employees have email accounts (bus drivers, custodians, etc.) due to costs. But with Google, everyone will have email accounts set up. Concern is that hourly employees should be getting paid while checking email and working. They are putting out a policy to include all hourly employees to have emails.
Paras cannot go to training in June unless the principals are willing to pay them. They have to wait till they come back (start of their 2012-2013 contract).
Campus staff is campus staff = includes Cafeteria manager, head custodian, etc. as well.
We are going to try and get all the teachers set up with Google mail before they leave for the summer. Tight window = nothing during EOY testing + need for teachers to be set up before leaving for summer
..........EOC - July 9-12,
We only did Social Studies EOC online this year. Administrators want all online eventually.
Online testing will commence the week of July 9th, and would like ITSs to be around to support the testing.
If asked to come back before duty days for this EOC period, ITSs will be compensated.
Only 5th and 8th Gr SSI - 10:1 ratio
For EOC, not as restrictive, but not as big as 30:1
Looking to hire for the summer
Possibly for summer 2013, all 9th and 10th grade EOCs will be online
.........Board approved district-wide pay increase of 3%
- Network Group - password and distribution lists / Google changes
Jennifer and Brent shared notes via Google Docs
--In AD, you CANNOT do: create teacher/generic accounts, modify attributes of teacher/generic accounts
--You CAN: reset passwords, modify group memberships on your campus, create/modify student accounts
--For substitutes: can be added to campus groups (they are placed in a different place in AD that's not tied to your campus)
--All subs will be created and by default, they have no rights. You will need to give them access to print, connect wirelessly, teacher groups, etc.
--Subs will be searchable, can search by employee ID, name, etc.
--NOTE: SUB Number is NOT the same as Employee ID (5 digits versus 6 digits)

Some ITSs weren't asked to reset their passwords. That means that 1) (most likely) your password was changed recently enough to satisfy in AD or 2) you have a double account in AD.
If you weren't required to reset your password on Monday (teachers, staff, etc.), email/notify Chris Neher, Jennifer Adams, and Brent Engelbredt
Password resets: All Staff - Sunday night, Complexity/Schedule, Google sync AD - needs to reset in order for this to happen
Automation still in the works (Chris Neher and Steve Wager working diligently on it - THANK YOU!!!)
How will things sync to Google (accounts/passwords/groups) -
Logon name will be renamed: E+Employee ID (most unique data available in the district)

Student accounts:
- It will be disabled June 1st, if there are exceptions needed, let Jennifer and Brent know
- Created with scripts at beginning of the year (possibly being automated)

Summer School:
- Students: send spreadsheet with first, last, ID
- Staff: spreadsheet with name, acampus (they will place in groups)

New look in AD:
- Managed OUs
- Generics
- Groups OU
All auto-generates to make sense to you
You can create your own distribution lists, but wait at this point. But when you do, select "Distribution" (default is "Security"). Then name the group this way: (Ex.) LaurelMountain_Grade1. And then once you create it, copy it over and put "@roundrockisd.org" for email - WHY? To sync with Google! Then add the people under the Members tab.

The following accounts will be available at every campus: CircDes (in a Library distribution group) and Cafeteria Manager

Generic ITS account: SchoolName_Tech used whenever you're not available. It's coming. Not available yet.

Link for Google Training site will be sent out in an email, and put it on Teacher Guides, and every ITS should link it from their school site.
- Sharing Google Training Ideas for Fall (Brandie, ???)
Enlisted Google experts on campus at Deepwood, got principal to get one day when they come back for 2012-2013 school year, and do a cafe-style training day. Brandie will do GMail, AP will handle calendar, Librarian will do Docs, and everything will be done on a comfort level, small group setting, rotate around to get to everything and allow time to practice.
Tuesday, May 29 - Great Oaks (Erik), will do a basic training, allow for teachers to ask questions before leaving for the summer
- Technical Operations - repair lists in grab stuff
..........[[file:\\grab\stuff\Documentation\Summer_Technology_Forms|\\grab\stuff\Documentation\Summer_Technology_Forms]]
..........Laptop repairs - Please place laptops in need of repairs in a common area (ITS office, library, etc.)
D630s are up for refresh for next school year (2012-2013)! Consider that when submitting repairs. You will need about a month or so to function with them till they are refreshed.
- EOY Stuff:
Be sure to bring in laptops and any portable computers in from the portables. If there is a lot of equipment that needs to be hauled into the school from outside, look into Helping Hands and ask principals to pay for the help.
Leave instructions to not have computers taken apart by custodians over the summer - MJ will speak with head of Custodial staff to make sure there is no miscommunication
- MFP bottlenecks and proposed solutions
New servers purchased in hopes to alleviate traffic
- TA Teks, Curriculum Specialists, Instructional Coaches, ITS's - working with the instructional and curriculum coaches
The presentation is available on [[file:\\grab\stuff|\\grab\stuff]]

Lessons are being integrated into the ARRC and working on TA TEKS to be integrated as well
- STaR Chart (principal self eval and campus equipment count)
Everyone completed their campus STaR Chart for this school year. YEAH! But there are two more parts after that for NCLB. Part 1 - inventory of campus technology. Part 2 - principal's comfort level of technology. In inventory, DO NOT include slates, podiums, and ActivPens.

755 or older are 5+ years, D630 or older are 5+ years.

- Summer PD and Institute Training
Google-related trainings filling up fast. If you volunteered to help out, you will get an email from MJ with assignments shortly. If you didn't volunteer, please feel free to stop by to watch, help out, etc.Google Day biggest sign up, but others not too much.
Those requesting to use Sites-we are limited to 100MB. Need to link to Google Docs instead of uploading. We can have Sites if we do not upload stuff. Again, REPEAT: DO NOT UPLOAD ANYTHING ONTO SITES!
- Start collecting evidence for next year now (MJ)

.....Some of you are strategically planning now.
